Attention, Upper East Siders

OMG, since its premiere on September 19, 2007, Gossip Girl has grown into a bona fide hit with critics and viewers alike. Some watch the show for its trend-setting ways, some tune in for its love triangles, betrayals, fights, and glamorous teenage angst, and many closeted fans who are way past their teenage years (we know who we are!!) watch for the well-written and witty dialogue...and all of the above too. I’ll admit that my eyes are glued to The CW at 8 p.m. (CST) every Monday night for many reasons, but mainly so that I can read Daily Intel’s fiercely funny recap and analysis available online the very next morning.
Daily Intel, an online blog on New York Magazine’s website, provides weekly summaries of the show and has dubbed it “The Greatest Show of Our Time.” The writers appear to be just as seduced and obsessed with Gossip Girl as most true fans are, if not more so.

The recaps are formatted as a “Reality Index” and are separated into “Real” and “Fake” sections. The writers treat the show as if the characters were members of their inner circle. They jump for joy when Dorota gets sassy, take great pleasure in Chuck Bass’ tie collection, make fun of Rufus and Dan for, well, everything, and long for CeCe’s return as Lily’s overbearing and hilariously snooty socialite mother. They might mock or tease, but if anybody outside the circle were to make fun of the show, you know they’d be the first ones in line to defend its honor. I highly recommend reading a few of these laugh-out-loud summaries. They’ll really take your Gossip Girl experience to a whole new level. Click here to view this week’s summary.

xoxo,

Spruce Girl

This almost made me want to watch Gossip Girl. Too bad is on opposite Dancing with the Stars, House, and Lie to Me.
