The Return Of The Headband

Get ready to decorate that head of yours, because headbands have made a definite comeback. Stemming all the way back to the ancient Greeks who wore their hair in wreaths, the headband can be the perfect way to jazz up an everyday ensemble, or it can be impressive enough to become the center of attention at a black tie affair. I recently enjoyed a night at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and my friends and I were struck by a lovely woman in her mid-thirties wearing the most adorable black headband with a little bow on the side. While this look was whimsical, it was not childish. The woman looked classy, sophisticated and confident. I have noticed that headbands with bow, jewel and feather embellishments have been popping up everywhere recently.
While you may not want to emulate the Marc Jacobs-designed bunny look of the recent Louis Vuitton runway show, you might be interested in trying a more modest take on this returning trend.
